Villas-Boas hints at fresh Modric bid

Manager Andre Villas-Boas has hinted that Chelsea will make a third offer for Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric by confirming he is still discussing transfers with club owner Roman Abramovich.
Chelsea have brought only two players to the club so far this summer - midfielder Oriol Romeu and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who has been sent on loan to Atletico Madrid - and are expected to confirm a third in the near future, with striker Romelu Lukaku poised to join.
But their main target all summer has been playmaking maestro Modric, who has been the subject of two unsuccessful bids of £22 million and £27m from the Blues. Earlier this week, the Croatia international confirmed that he still wants to move to Stamford Bridge - despite Spurs' insistence that he will not be sold.
Villas-Boas refused to confirm or deny whether a third offer will be lodged, but he did say that more arrivals are possible before the transfer window closes on August 31.
"We are happy with the squad we have at the moment going into the Stoke game, and we're in maximum condition to bring back the three points," said Villas-Boas.
"Nobody in the Chelsea dressing room is under evaluation. We're assessing what we have in the market. We're happy this is what is happening for Stoke [Chelsea's opening Premier League match on Sunday].
"This doesn't mean that we won't be adding up to the 31st. That's what we've been discussing throughout with [Abramovich]."
