Tottenham midfielder Niko Kranjcar is on the verge of completing a move to Sunderland, according to the player's agent.

Kranjcar has made no secret of his desire to leave White Hart Lane in recent months, as he has found his playing time limited as Harry Redknapp has consistently preferred the likes of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale in his starting XI.

The Croatian has been linked with a number of clubs during the summer, with Sunderland manager Steve Bruce admitting last week that the 27-year-old was "one we're looking at" as he tried to further add to his squad.

And Kranjcar's representative, Adrian Aljai, has now revealed a move to the Stadium of Light is near to being completed.

"We are about to close a deal with Sunderland," Aljai told Daily Express. "I believe that is the best solution for Niko."

Kranjcar made just two starts for Tottenham in the Premier League last season, coming off the bench a further 11 times - scoring two goals in the process.
