Khan sparks Twitter row with Maidana

Amir Khan kicked off a Twitter row by suggesting Marcos Maidana asked Robert Guerrero to "step aside" from their scheduled fight.
Guerrero was due to face Maidana for the WBA light-welterweight title next week, but Guerrero pulled out with a shoulder injury sustained during sparring.
On hearing the news, Khan tweeted: "No injury, I reckon maidana payed off Guerero steap aside money, so he can become the WBA champ becus I Have moved up as WBA super champ."
Predictably, Maidana was far from happy, replying: "amir queen con I wait for u! I'd fight u tomorrow at your backyard! Stop running."
When the dust settled, Khan offered an apology: "Guys I was messing around about the injury of Guerrero. Apologies for the tweet. I'm sure he didn't get paid step aside money. Let's hope he recovers. Bet Maidana's happy for not wanting to get beaten up."
Khan's decision to re-open a war of words with Maidana is intriguing, because he has distanced himself from talk of a rematch with the Argentinean, who he beat on points in a classic bout during December 2010.
The Brit would prefer to fight Lucas Martin Matthysse or Erik Morales, who face off for the WBC welterweight title in September, in what would be his last bout at light-welterweight before stepping up a division.
Maidana has previously accused Khan, the WBA Super champion and IBF regular-title holder, of "begging" the WBA not to sanction a rematch against Maidana.
