Mick McCarthy has dished out a damning criticism of the Europa League, claiming he would be horrified if Wolves ever qualified for the competition.

Goals from Kevin Doyle and Matt Jarvis saw Wolves beat a jaded Fulham side to make it two wins from their opening two league matches, but despite Wolves' impressive start to the season, European qualification is not on McCarthy's list of priorities.

With Fulham already having played five Europa League fixtures after their qualification through the Fair Play League, McCarthy believes the Cottagers' European commitments have jeopardised their league chances.

"If we ever get anywhere near the Europa League, I'll be horrified," McCarthy said in the Sun. "If it's through fair play, I'll even go out and kick a few opponents to make sure we don't qualify!

"I've no doubt that Fulham paid some penalty for being involved in a Europa fixture only last Thursday. That said, I thought we were excellent."
