City go top after fending off feisty Bolton

Manchester City fired a warning to their rivals with a 3-2 victory over Bolton to move top of the Premier League on goal difference.
Goals from David Silva, Gareth Barry and Edin Dzeko ensured Roberto Mancini's men maintained their perfect start to the new campaign with two wins from their opening two matches.
With Carlos Tevez left on the bench by Mancini, the lively David Silva opened the scoring for City, but he had Jussi Jaaskelainen to thank after the Bolton stopper failed to stop the Spaniard's long-range effort.
But Jaaskelainen was helpless to stop City's second goal eleven minutes later, when Barry's thunderbolt from 30 yards fizzed past his fingertips, and City looked to be cruising. However, Ivan Klasnic pulled one back for Bolton after converting Martin Petrov's cross with his first touch to keep the home side in the hunt.
If Mancini asked for a response from his players at half-time, he would have been delighted when Dzeko re-established a two-goal cushion just two minutes into the second half, outmuscling Zat Knight after James Milner's ball over the top of the Bolton defence, and the Bosnian drove a low volley into the net.
City enjoyed the majority of the possession, but Bolton refused to lie down and Kevin Davies once more reduced the deficit, rising high to bury a header from Petrov's free-kick, but City kept their cool to close out the win to take all three points away from the Reebok Stadium.

City leapfrogged Wolves, who also maintained their 100% record at the start of the season by conquering Fulham 2-0 at Molineux. Kevin Doyle profited from a lack of concentration in the Cottagers' defence to put Wolves in front on 42 minutes, pouncing on Matt Jarvis' short corner before beating two men and rattling the ball past Mark Schwarzer.
Just three minutes later Jarvis was on the scoresheet himself, lashing the ball into the net after Roger Johnson's header had hit the post. Martin Jol's second-half substitutions were in vain as Fulham, playing their ninth match of the season due to Europa League commitments, ran out of steam as the final whistle neared.
A 94th-minute strike from Stoke's Kenwyne Jones at Carrow Road denied Norwich their first three points of the season. Ritchie de Laet put the hosts ahead on 37 minutes, climbing highest to meet Bradley Johnson's free-kick following a clumsy foul on Elliott Bennett by Jonathan Woodgate. Stoke had a golden chance to pull level 15 minutes into the second half when Leon Barnett saw red for bringing down Jonathan Walters in the area, but Walters' spot-kick was saved by John Ruddy.
Tony Pulis' side might have been expected to fade in the late stages, having played in the Europa League on Thursday, but Jones proved the Potters still had something in the tank by getting on the end of Glenn Whelan's dinked cross.
