Manchester City have suspended striker Carlos Tevez after he refused to come on as a substitute in their 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Mancini turned to Tevez in the second half of City's European match at the Allianz Arena as his side trailed 2-0 following a first-half brace from Bayern forward Mario Gomez. But, speaking after the defeat, the Italian coach claimed Tevez had refused to enter the fray. The Argentine striker later claimed it was a miscommunication, with many fans and pundits slamming his behaviour.

Now the club have acted to confirm that Tevez will not be available for selection for the next two weeks. ''Manchester City can confirm that striker Carlos Tevez has been suspended until further notice for a maximum period of two weeks,'' read a club statement.

''The player's suspension is pending a full review into his alleged conduct during Tuesday evening's 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich. The player will not be considered for selection or take part in training whilst the review is under way.''

The Blues confirmed the news following a telephone conference involving senior staff, including chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak. After the weekend's games, there is an international break, so Tevez would be unavailable until October 15 anyway.
