City reject West Ham's approach for Tevez

Manchester City have turned down West Ham's approach to sign suspended striker Carlos Tevez on loan, with the club intent on concluding disciplinary matters before addressing the player's future.

ESPNsoccernet understands a sense of "outrage" permeates the City hierarchy over the Tevez affair, which was sparked by his apparent refusal to come on as substitute in their Champions League meeting with Bayern Munich. City have not ruled out pursuing Tevez's outright dismissal on the grounds of gross misconduct.

One option is for City to sack Tevez now, but hold his registration in a bid to sell him in January, or claim compensation. With this in mind, it appears loaning Tevez to a Championship team, such as his former club West Ham, is simply not on the agenda.

In conducting their internal investigation, City are taking statements from the players who sat beside Tevez on the bench in Munich to establish the facts.

ESPNsoccernet has found nothing to substantiate claims from the Tevez camp that his team-mates will confirm he refused to warm-up, but not to play. That rumour is being put down to Tevez's change of PR company, and their attempts to clear his name.

Returning to West Ham's approach, it appears the Championship club wanted to take Tevez on a three-month deal to Upton Park, but to no avail. An insider told ESPNsoccernet: "That shows West Ham's ambitions, but it was nothing more than an informal enquiry, but it is not going to happen."
