Arsenal transfer target Marvin Martin has dealt a blow to Arsene Wenger by insisting he has no plans to leave Sochaux in the January transfer window.

Attacking midfielder Martin was targeted by Arsenal over the summer, following the sales of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, but Sochaux refused to negotiate.

Instead, the 23-year-old, who provided the most assists (17) in Ligue 1 last term, signed a new contract with the French club, although he reportedly inserted a get-out clause in the deal.

With Sochaux struggling in mid table this season, Wenger was hopeful Martin could be lured away in January but the France international has intimated he wants to remain the Stade Auguste Bonal at least until the end of the current campaign.

"I've started the season with Sochaux, and I'll finish it with Sochaux as well," said Martin. "I have absolutely no desire to leave the side like that in the middle of the season."
