Tevez won't appeal punishment

Rebel striker Carlos Tevez will not contest the misconduct charge handed down by Manchester City following his refusal to warm up during a Champions League game.

Tevez was named as a substitute for the match against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in September but with 35 minutes left he refused to come off the bench when manager Roberto Mancini asked him to.

City found the Argentina international guilty of five breaches of contract at a disciplinary hearing and it is understood Tevez is desperate to leave the club in the January transfer window.

However, City did find the striker guilty of five breaches of contract at a disciplinary hearing and last month fined him four weeks' wages, later reduced to two weeks following intervention by the PFA. The 27-year-old was also suspended for two weeks, although that sanction was deemed to have already been served.

The striker was given 14 days to appeal, an option he had been expected to take up, but it now seems he has accepted his punishment.

Tevez was told last week he would be allowed to rejoin City's first-team squad if he apologised to Mancini and his team-mates, but rejected the offer and will continue to train on his own.

It is a dramatic fall from grace for a player who was City's skipper, top scorer and talisman during their historic FA Cup-winning campaign last season. It is understood Tevez is desperate to leave the club in the January transfer window.
