Agbonlahor out of England squad with hamstring injury

Gabriel Agbonlahor will play no part in England's friendly clash with Spain after a hamstring injury forced him to withdraw from the international squad.

Agbonlahor had been tipped for a starting role at Wembley following a fine start to the season for Aston Villa, but Fabio Capello must now rethink his plans ahead of a meeting with the world and European champions.

The explosive forward was hoping to win his fourth cap but suffered an injury in training on Thursday. While the damage is not thought to be serious, it was decided to send Agbonlahor back to Villa for further treatment.

"Gabriel Agbonlahor has this morning returned to Aston Villa," the FA confirmed on Friday. "Having been assessed by the England medical staff, Agbonlahor is unable to train today at Wembley and has returned to his club."
