Capello looking to assess Rodwell and Sturridge

Jack Rodwell will make his England debut and Daniel Sturridge will be given a crack at staking a European Championship Finals place as Fabio Capello plans to experiment in back to back friendlies against Spain and Sweden.
A source in the England camp told ESPNsoccernet that Capello is curious about Sturridge's international credentials and wants to see him at some stage in either game with Spain and Sweden. Rodwell, a player well liked by Capello but whose development has been slower than expected, will also play a part.
Sturridge faces competition from Danny Welbeck, who made his first competitive appearance for England as a substitute in the 2-2 Euro 2012 qualifying draw in Montenegro last month, and who remains in contention.
Sturridge and Welbeck's biggest challenge is to cement a starting place at their respective clubs.
Capello wants to test players against high-class opposition as he gets closer to deciding on the make up of the squad for the finals. The two matches will also be used to try different shapes and formations for the team.
