Tevez gives City silent treatment

Manchester City misfit Carlos Tevez is refusing to tell the club why he jetted off to Argentina this week instead of attending training.
The club told Tevez to send an e-mail explaining himself by Friday, but the deadline passed without the striker touching base with his employers. A City spokesperson said: "We have asked Carlos to get in touch but not heard from him."
When he returns to the club, Tevez will be fined three weeks' wages for defying orders to turn up for training. The Argentinean has not been selected for international duty, so was told to continue his fitness work in Manchester.
He is required to attend a disciplinary meeting in Monday - or face the prospect of being sacked. If he is dismissed, City are able to retain his registration and pursue compensation from his next club.
On Tuesday, Tevez accepted a two-week fine imposed by City for five breaches of contract during the Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich during September.
The chance of him appearing again for the table-toppers appears remote, and he is expected to leave in January, with former club Corinthians looking the most likely destination.
