Messi comparisons embarrass Suarez

Luis Suarez has played down his role in Uruguay's' recent 12-match unbeaten run and laughed off comparisons between himself and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi.
Suarez, 24, has been in scintillating form for his country this year and drew plaudits again over the weekend for a four-goal haul in Uruguay's World Cup qualifying victory over Chile.
The Liverpool forward also starred in this year's Copa America for La Celeste, scoring four goals as Oscar Tabarez's side lifted the trophy, with his displays seeing him crowned Player of the Tournament.
Uruguay have now gone 12 matches undefeated since a friendly defeat to Germany in May but Suarez - who has been lauded in some quarters for being as influential a player as two-time World Player of the Year Messi - was keen to credit the entire team for the impressive sequence, as well as dismissing comparisons with the Barcelona playmaker.
"Comparisons with Messi embarrass me," Suarez told El Pais. "It also makes me smile but I feel that the comparisons are just the reaction from the Uruguay fans, as everything seems to be going well at the moment.
"I am happy but we have to look at the work of the whole team as it is not just about one player."
Uruguay will look to extend their unbeaten run when they take on Italy in a friendly in Rome on Tuesday, with Suarez looking to add to his international tally of 26 goals in 52 games.
