Luis Suarez has revealed he is prioritising Liverpool's forthcoming clash with Chelsea over Uruguay's prestige friendly with Italy on Tuesday night.

Suarez caused concern in the Liverpool camp when he came off with 13 minutes remaining in Uruguay's clash with Chile, complaining of a back problem. The forward had scored four goals in the match before being withdrawn.

Now Uruguay prepare for an encounter with fellow former World Cup holders Italy, but Suarez already has his mind on Liverpool. The Reds play Chelsea twice in their next three games, with Manchester City in between, and the 24-year-old admits his club comes first.

"I was a little scared by the pain I had in the game but treatment I had was just a precaution and it does not hurt," Suarez told Uruguayan newspaper El Pais. "There will be no problem but the decision is going to be the coach [Oscar Tabarez].

"I risk a lot to Liverpool. I have a very important game next weekend against Chelsea. I love to play every game for the national team but now they are several tough matches in the club and you have to give a little priority."

Suarez's comments come just days after he confirmed he plans to renew his commitment to Liverpool, saying: "I have five years left on my contract and I think beyond that, I'm already thinking about staying many more years at Liverpool."
