Capello dashes Beckham's Euro 2012 hopes

Fabio Capello has effectively dashed David Beckham's hopes of a shock England return by urging the midfielder to concentrate on pulling on the national colours at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Beckham has hit form in some style in the past few months, leading LA Galaxy to the MLS Cup final, and he recently revealed he still harboured hopes of an England return.

The former Manchester United star claimed he had never retired from England duty and was available for selection. But it would appear there is little prospect of the call coming from Capello.

"I haven't thought about this," Capello said ahead of the friendly with Sweden on Tuesday. "I think he will only be involved in the Olympic Games.

"I have time to decide but he is not in my plans right now."
