Roberto Mancini has played down the prospect of Manchester City making a move for Napoli forward Edinson Cavani.

Cavani will come up against City in the Champions League on Tuesday and if reports are to be believed, Mancini will have a closer eye than normal on the forward.

Reports in Italy have suggested City are mulling over the prospect of lodging an offer with Napoli, but Mancini has played down suggestions that he will add the forward to his ranks.

"The good players are all interesting but there's nothing," Mancini told Rai Due. "We can't buy every player."

Cavani has scored 30 goals for Napoli since joining the club from Palermo in 2010, but Mancini has a wealth of attacking options - notably Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli - at his disposal.

Space could become available in the Eastlands squad if City can offload Carlos Tevez in the January transfer window.
