Crocked Arsenal defender Andre Santos has handed Gunners boss Arsene Wenger a Christmas headache after revealing he expects to be out of action for three weeks.

The 28-year-old left-back was stretchered off with an ankle complaint during his team's 3-1 Champions League defeat at Olympiacos on Tuesday, with Wenger stating after the game the initial prognosis was not good.

Having been medically assessed, Santos - who had impressed many with his recent form - has been told he will be out for the duration of the festive period, which includes games against Manchester City, Aston Villa and Wolves.

Santos - who joined the London club in a £6million deadline-day deal from Turkish outfit Fenerbahce - said: "I twisted my ankle in a silly move. The doctor thinks I'll be out for three weeks."
