Manchester United players have been pleading with Paul Scholes to come out of retirement, according to a report in The Sun.
Scholes retired from playing following United's Champions League final defeat to Barcelona but has kept himself in trim by coaching the youth and reserves at Old Trafford.
United are down to the bare bones in midfield, with Darren Fletcher this week joining a host of players on the sidelines.
With the injuries mounting, The Sun are claiming that Scholes has been urged to make a comeback.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said nothing on the subject and is refusing to panic - claiming he is unlikely to buy in January - but further setbacks may prompt a rethink.
