Alex McLeish insists Aston Villa striker Darren Bent is not for sale at any price.

Since joining Villa for a club record £24 million in January last year, Bent has scored 15 Premier League goals, reportedly attracting the attentions of Liverpool.

With Luis Suarez banned for eight games and Andy Carroll struggling for goals, Kenny Dalglish was thought to be considering a bid for Bent, who has scored six goals this season.

But McLeish insists Villa have not received any enquiries regarding the England forward, and would not be prepared to entertain any bids for Bent.

"We've not heard a thing from Liverpool. I'm aware of the speculation," McLeish said. "But there has been no contact with this club and I think you've had three parties telling you that.

"But, even if there was contact, we would not entertain that. We wouldn't want to entertain selling our top scorer of last season. He is a prolific marksman."
