Sneijder drops United hint

Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder, who has long been linked with a move to Manchester United, has hinted that he would have made the switch to Old Trafford if a bid had been forthcoming in January.

Sneijder, 27, is under contract with Inter until June 2015 but has only played 11 Serie A games this season due to injury and a change of formation by Nerazzurri boss Claudio Ranieri.

The Netherlands international is one of Sir Alex Ferguson's top targets to add some guile to United's midfield, but it is thought the Premier League champions were put off a transfer window bid by Sneijder's £250,000-a-week wages.

And although United never officially made an offer, Sneijder said he was well aware of the club's interest.

"I see everything, I am not blind, but there is nothing concrete right now," Sneijder told Nos. "There have never been any concrete contacts with Manchester United.

"If on the last day of the transfer window an offer had arrived, maybe I would have left. The truth is that I feel at home at Inter, but I do not know where I will be playing next season."

Sneijder has also been linked with moves to Manchester City and big-spending Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala - clubs where his wages would not be an issue - but for now he is happy at the San Siro.

He said: "I'm not in contact with any other club and I am living day by day. I am happy at Inter, but we will see..."

Sneijder also dismissed the idea of joining the likes of David Beckham and Thierry Henry in the MLS at this point in his career.

"A spell in the USA? That is something I think about, but only in the future," Sneijder said. "I do not think where I will play next season. I have been in the USA with Yolanthe [his wife] because of her work.

"We will surely discuss this in the future, but not now."
