Manchester United could miss the chance to win Wesley Sneijder's signature after Zenit St Petersburg boss Luciano Spalletti indicated an interest in signing the player, although he says Inter Milan are reluctant to sell.

Sneijder has long been linked with a move away from Inter, with United having expressed an interest last summer, and the Netherlands international has said he is unsure whether he will still be at the club next season.

With the Russian transfer window open for business for another fortnight, Spalletti has hinted that Zenit would be keen to tie up a deal.

"Who wouldn't want such a strong player? The Dutchman is wanted by many top level clubs, but he is currently under contract with Inter, who do not seem ready to sell," Spalletti said.

"When we're talking about a player of Sneijder's calibre, believe me, it all becomes more difficult. Naturally we're working on the transfer market and two weeks isn't too much, but nor is it a little."

Spalletti also said the signings of Milos Krasic and Mauro Zarate are unlikely.

"The media has written a great deal about our interest in Krasic, perhaps too much," he told Itasportpress. "Everyone knows the Juventus man is an excellent player, but we have made absolutely no initiative to buy him.

"As for Zarate, I can confirm he was of interest to us, but Mauro does not want to come to Russia."
