Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Thierry Henry's loan with Arsenal will come to an end on February 16.

New York Red Bulls striker Henry joined Arsenal on a short-term arrangement during January and, while Wenger is eager to extend the deal, he concedes there is no chance of that happening.

Henry, who will be available for two more matches (against Sunderland and AC Milan), has scored two goals during his second spell with the London giants - including a fairytale winner in his homecoming clash against Leeds.

"There is clarification, it will be February 16 [when he returns]. The day after the game in Milan," Wenger said. "I would have loved him to stay for two more weeks but he has to go back.

"He is captain of the Red Bulls, so just to appear on the first day of the season would be unfair to them. We accepted at the start that we would release him on February 16 so we respect our word. He thinks as well that it would be too late [to remain for two more weeks]."

The news means that Henry will not be able to feature in the North London derby against Tottenham on February 26.
