Demba Ba expects a tough examination when Newcastle visit Tottenham on Saturday, with the Senegal striker insisting Spurs will be "stronger" in spite of the cloud hanging over Harry Redknapp's future at the club.

Redknapp is the overwhelming favourite to succeed Fabio Capello as England manager, after the Italian resigned from his post on Wednesday.

Redknapp, who was cleared of tax evasion charges on the same day Capello quit as England boss, has not ruled out taking the job if it was offered, although the 64-year-old said 'I can't take my eye off the ball at Tottenham'.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Redknapp's future, Ba feels the Spurs players will be united in their performance, claiming they will want to show the manager how strongly they want him to stay at White Hart Lane.

"I truly think it's going to make them stronger," Ba told ESPN. "If I was in that position then obviously they love their manager and they will try to do their best on the pitch to give a message. They will want to make him feel that no-one wants him to leave."
