Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed he will meet with striker Carlos Tevez on Thursday.

Mancini saw his side progress to the last 16 of the Europa League on Wednesday, after beating 10-man Porto 4-0 at Etihad Stadium to secure a 6-1 aggregate victory.

Prior to the match, the Italian revealed he will finally meet Tevez to try and sort out their differences.

The Argentine striker finally apologised for disobeying his manager this week, removing one obstacle from his potential return to the first-team squad. The pair will now discuss their next move face-to-face.

"Tomorrow (on Thursday) I will meet Carlos and talk with him," Mancini confirmed to ESPN.

Players' Association chief Gordon Taylor is pleased the matter could be about to reach a positive resolution.

"I'm very glad, having dealt with him and represented him," Taylor said. "Sorry has been said; sometimes it's the hardest word. Sometimes if you can grasp that nettle early on it makes like so much better for all parties, that's what we're about in football: respect.

"I hate seeing such top quality players in trouble with their clubs and in trouble with the game.

"This has gone on for too long and it's a real positive step for football, for Carlos Tevez and Manchester City."
