Michael Owen has expressed delight after coming through a training session with Manchester United.

The forward, who has had an injury-plagued career, has not featured for United since picking up a thigh problem in a Champions League clash with Otelul Galati in November.

United's medical staff have had Owen on a tailored rehabilitation programme and he was seen on the club's Carrington Training ground towards the end of last month.

After working on his own for a fortnight, Owen took part in a session with his team-mates and it all went according to plan.

Taking to Twitter to express his delight, Owen said: "Hallelujah!!! Trained today for the first time and all felt great. Onwards and upwards."

With Owen's history of injuries, he is unlikely to be rushed back into action but could be in contention towards the end of March.
