We won't compromise style for goals - Dalglish

Kenny Dalglish has admitted Liverpool have no chance of securing a Champions League spot if they cannot start scoring more goals, but refused to compromise on the club's philosophy.

Liverpool have scored just 30 Premier League goals this season - only five clubs have scored fewer, and the Reds' wastefulness in front of goal cost them heavily as they lost to Arsenal at Anfield last weekend - a game which they dominated.

While Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has singlehandedly scored 25 league goals this season, Luis Suarez is Liverpool's top marksman with 10, while Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson have hit just three between them.

Andy Carroll has been widely criticised for his paltry goalscoring return since his £35 million switch from Newcastle last January, but with Liverpool currently 10 points off fourth place, Dalglish insists he does not care where the goals from, as long as somebody scores.

"We have got to put the finishing touches to the good work that we have done," Dalglish said. "Whoever comes up with the solution, whether it is a centre-back getting 20 goals a season, I'm not really bothered. We just need to find a solution and a bit of the good fortune too.

"We've been delighted with the way we've played but disappointed with some of the results because they haven't always reflected the performances.

"If they hadn't been playing as well then they'd not have created the chances. It's a results-driven business so maybe that is the priority but I don't think we'll ever change the way we play or our principles.

"We keep saying there's going to be one game where we don't play as well as we're capable of and walk away with three points - we're still waiting for it though."
