Van Persie leads PFA Player of Year nominees

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is the favourite to win PFA Player of the Year award after the shortlist was announced on Monday afternoon.
The Dutchman, who has scored 34 goals for the Gunners so far this season, is joined on the nominees' list by three Manchester City players.
Representing interest from the blue half of Manchester at this year's award will be Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Joe Hart, and the England international is the only goalkeeper on this year's list.
Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney and Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker ensure a strong English presence on the six-name shortlist. Parker was nominated for last year's award, which went to Spurs team-mate Gareth Bale.
The Welshman has been named on the list of nominees for the PFA Young Player of the Year, along with team-mate Kyle Walker.
Aguero has been nominated for the Young Player of the Year award as well, with Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge and Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck all also put forward.
The winners of each award will be announced at the PFA's annual awards ceremony this Sunday.
