Chelsea have been shorn of the services of defender David Luiz for both legs of their Champions League semi-final with Barcelona.

Luiz was substituted during Chelsea's 5-1 FA Cup win over Tottenham on Sunday, having sustained a hamstring problem in the move that saw Spurs score through Gareth Bale.

The Brazilian was sent for a scan and tests have confirmed a problem that requires at least a fortnight on the sidelines.

"David Luiz is a big loss for us, he's a fantastic central defender, he was in good form, we hope to get him back in two weeks maybe, so hopefully he can be ready for the end of the season," Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo said.

With Luiz sidelined, Gary Cahill is in the frame to partner John Terry in the heart of Chelsea's back four, although Branislav Ivanovic is an option as he available during his domestic three-match suspension.
