Frank Lampard wants John Terry to have the chance to lift the Champions League trophy if Chelsea can overcome Bayern Munich in the final.

Terry is suspended for the match - alongside team-mates Ramires, Branislav Ivanovic and Raul Meireles - after picking up a red card in Tuesday's semi-final victory over Barcelona.

"I'm devastated for JT. He is a huge player for this club and the central point as captain," Lampard told the Sun. "A few players will miss the final but for John especially we know how much it means to him.

"He's devastated and it was hard to console him on Tuesday but he will be there with us for the final and hopefully we can win it as a group. My ego doesn't need to lift the trophy. I just want to be part of the team that wins the Champions League and if we do anyone can lift it."

The suspended players will be handed a medal, but cannot sit in the dug-out and are not allowed to enter the playing surface for the presentation.
