David Beckham is giving his all in his attempt to skipper Great Britain at London 2012, according to his manager at LA Galaxy, Bruce Arena.

Beckham has struggled to find his best form in the MLS this season, but was watched at the weekend by Team GB boss Stuart Pearce, who is believed to want Beckham to skipper his side this summer.

The former Manchester United midfielder, 37, was included in the 80-man provisional squad for the Olympics, and is hoping to make the final cut as one of three players over 23.

And Arena, who has experience of international management with the United States, is backing Beckham's chances of forcing his way in.

"David is determined to make the Olympic squad. It's very important to him, he's passionate about it and is working hard towards it," Arena told the Mirror.
