Vieira eyes City cycle of success

Patrick Vieira feels stability will enable Manchester City to embark on a spell of dominance in the Premier League.

City produced one of the most amazing finishes in football history to claim the Premier League title after scoring twice in injury time to beat QPR 3-2.

It was a result that denied rivals Manchester United and sparked scenes of celebration at Eastlands. Those celebrations were repeated in the city centre on Monday, as thousands of fans turned out to witness the open-top bus parade.

City have spent millions since Sheikh Mansour took control of the club and Vieira feels the team spirit under Roberto Mancini can enable the club to dominate.

"We always talk about football being a cycle of five, six years," City football development executive Vieira told Sky Sports News. "City is a winning team with so much talent and I really hope the hunger to do well and determination to do well and the togetherness that the team showed this year remains for the next five or six years.

"We know that to be successful we need stability. In the last two or three years this club has done brilliant to build this team."

The Champions League is likely to be a key target for City next term and Mancini feels his side will need to improve to dominate Europe.

"We need to improve," Mancini told talkSPORT. "The Champions League is a very difficult competition, you need to be lucky and in good form in February, but I think we can do well next year.

"I think Manchester City now is in a good way. It is not easy because we have to fight every year against top teams like United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham - but we have worked well in the last two years and if we continue to work like this we can have a big future."
