Kompany marvels at Manchester miracle

Manchester City's players were unable to contain their emotions after Sergio Aguero's goal won them the Premier League title, according to captain Vincent Kompany.

City looked to be hurtling towards final-day heartbreak when they entered injury time 2-1 down to ten-man QPR at the Etihad, with Manchester United seemingly placing one hand on another league crown.

But Edin Dzeko equalised, and then Aguero notched in the 94th minute as City finished above rivals United on goal difference, with both teams locked on 89 points.

"This game was crazy," Kompany said. "There are no words to explain what happened today. I just remember them having two shots and it was bang, goal. We had so many chances. It just had to happen for us. Miracles do happen in Manchester. This time it is on this side of the road.

"It is one big blur. I remember jumping on top of Sergio when he scored the goal. He was crying on the floor. All the guys were pouring their eyes out. You don't see strong personalities like that showing their emotion so often.

"We expected to win the league today. The disappointment of being one goal down was incredible. For us to do it was one of the best moments of my life, together with my wedding and the birth of my child."

Defender Pablo Zabaleta, who put City 1-0 up against QPR, said that the club's next aim had to be a tilt at the Champions League crown. City failed to get beyond the group stage in the competition this year.

"You have to try to the end," he said. "We won the game in the last five minutes. It's crazy but I think we deserved it. We have fantastic players, and for this club it is a great step forward. Europe's next."

Goalkeeper Joe Hart called on his team-mates to make this championship the first of many over the coming years. "It was a crazy day. I'm proud to play for Manchester City and to play with these boys. This means the world for these fans. We need to do it again. Let's do it again," he told the BBC.
