Frank Lampard says Chelsea will use the disappointment of losing in the 2008 Champions League final to inspire them to their first European crown with victory over Bayern Munich.

The Blues are bidding to be crowned European champions for the first time after losing on penalties to Manchester United in Moscow four years ago.

And Lampard, who will captain in the team in the absence of the suspended John Terry, says Chelsea are determined to finally get their hands on the trophy at the Allianz Arena.

"We remember that feeling of losing, that disappointment, and we'll use that to inspire us to win here," Lampard said. "You saw the celebrations after the Barcelona semi-final - we were so desperate to be here again in a final."

Taking on the four-time European champions on their home pitch, Lampard believes Bayern are the favourites, but says Chelsea will relish their status as underdogs.

"To be underdogs gives you a determination - bring it on," he said. "The fact they're the home team is a great challenge for us. The atmosphere here is amazing and we sampled a bit of it from the airport to the hotel.

"Playing at home, being in your own changing room, the city with your fans - it's an advantage."
