Napoli's president has revealed that there is an "international bidding war" going on for the services of forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Lavezzi, nicknamed 'Il Pocho', has been linked with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in recent month - as well as clubs in Italy, France and Spain.

Interest has heightened this season, after a campaign that saw him notch nine goals in 30 Serie A games while serving as one of the main providers to in-demand striker Edinson Cavani.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed that a number of clubs are chasing the 27-year-old's signature, and hinted that the club could be prepared to sell the Argentinian if they receive a suitable offer.

"Six clubs continuously ask me about 'Il Pocho'," De Laurentiis told Gazzetta dello Sport. "There is an international bidding war going on for him.

"With calmness and alongside Lavezzi we will evaluate where he wants to go, and what is the best solution for him and for the club."

Lavezzi, who moved to San Paolo in 2008, reportedly has a £26.8 million release clause in his current contract - which expires in June 2015.
