Spurs sign up Sigurdsson
Tottenham have completed the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson, beating Swansea and Liverpool to the former Hoffenheim midfielder's signature.
Sigurdsson, who scored seven times in 19 appearances on loan at Swansea last season, becomes the first signing of new manager Andre Villas-Boas's reign at White Hart Lane.
"We are delighted to announce that we have completed the transfer of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Hoffenheim," a Spurs statement read.
The Iceland international appeared set to make his move to the Liberty Stadium permanent at the start of the summer, before manager Brendan Rodgers' move to Liverpool threw the transfer into doubt.
Rodgers had subsequently hoped to bring the 22-year-old to Anfield with him, but Spurs have stolen in amid the uncertainty to lure Sigurdsson to north London.
Spurs are Sigurdsson's third English club, after he made 51 appearances - scoring 23 goals - for Reading after joining them as an academy player. He moved to Hoffenheim in 2010.
