Villas-Boas: Modric can leave for the right price

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has warned Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain they must pay the full asking price for Luka Modric to prise the playmaker away from White Hart Lane this summer.

Modric's future has been the subject of speculation for 12 months, with Villas-Boas former club Chelsea close to signing the Croatia international last year. Real Madrid are reportedly leading the charge for his signature this summer, but Villas-Boas insists Spurs are willing to hold out for an offer they deem adequate.

"There has been continuous interest from three different clubs," Villas-Boas said. "But it's important for Tottenham to hold onto their rights. His situation will continue as it is until the price is right."

Reports in the English press claim Tottenham are seeking a £35 million transfer fee for Modric, and Villas-Boas says the 26-year-old has been made aware of the club's asking price.

"It's important to understand his feelings. We have been speaking and I understand his point and he understands the club's point.

"Luka is an intelligent person and understands the club has to defend his value their values, rights and interests. It's a difficult situation for the club but we have been co-operative by openly saying we are willing to listen to offers.

"But the offer has not been met to what the chairman wants. If that is met, there won't be any problems," said Villas-Boas.

Meanwhile, Villas-Boas played down talk of interest in signing Hulk from his former club Porto after the pair were photographed in a London hotel together on Tuesday evening.

"Hulk is a very special player for me as we achieved a very good year at Porto - but we were just talking," he said.
