Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Hughes has distanced himself from reports linking him with a bid for Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov.

Berbatov seems surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he would be prepared to let the forward leave if a decent offer is tabled.

Turkish side Galatasaray have played down talk of a bid, but the speculation surrounding the Bulgarian has continued apace.

QPR's name has cropped up and although not ruling out a move for Berbatov, Hughes did not want to comment on the speculation.

"There's a lot of names flying around and that is a new one on me," Hughes told Sky Sports News about reports linking him with Berbatov.

"This time of the year there is a lot of names and we prefer to get the job done, get the business done and then announce."
