Galatasaray have rejected reports linking the club with a swoop for Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Berbatov's future has been the subject of intense media speculation for some time, with the likes of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain and Tottenham all linked with a move for him.

Turkish giants Gala were the latest club tipped to be chasing the Bulgarian, but they have moved to quash the rumours.

"There have been some reports in the media that Dimitar Berbatov will be transferred to our club," a statement on the club's official website read.

"The club would like to declare that there is no transfer and no attempt has been made in that regard."

After winning the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2010-11 season, Berbatov found himself out of favour last term - with Sir Alex Ferguson regularly selecting Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck as his first-choice strikerforce, and Javier Hernandez usually preferred as an attacking option from the bench.

Berbatov is out of contract next summer and though the club would likely be keen to cash-in on him rather than let him leave for free, Ferguson has recently stated that he would be happy for the former Spurs forward to stay at Old Trafford for the coming campaign.
