Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova has refused to be drawn on speculation that the club are interested in signing Alex Song from Arsenal, insisting he will not comment on any transfer rumours.

Reports in the Spanish press in recent days have suggested that the Catalans are ready to swoop for Song, who enjoyed a fine 2011-12 campaign for Arsene Wenger's side, and Barca midfielder Andres Iniesta fuelled the fire when singing the midfielder's praises.

Song is a hot topic of debate in Barcelona, but Vilanova remained coy when asked about the player after Barca's penalty shootout victory over Manchester United in Wednesday's pre-season friendly in Gothenburg.

"I don't like talking about players who are not in our squad," Vilanova said. "There are many players outside of Barca who I like and I cannot talk about them.

"It would be a lack of respect to other clubs."

Barcelona already boast an embarrassment of riches in midfield with the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, Javier Mascherano and Thiago Alcantara among Vilanova's options.
