Manchester City have finally made their first signing of the summer, bringing in midfielder Jack Rodwell from Everton.

The 21-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with the Premier League champions, having moved for an undisclosed fee.

Rodwell, who earned the first of his two England caps against Spain in November 2011, will wear the No. 17 shirt at City.

He made just 14 league appearances for the Toffees last season after struggling with injury, and was not selected to represent Team GB at London 2012. Nonetheless, he insists he is fully fit and able to make his City debut next week.

"I relish the opportunity of playing with some of the best players in the world and continuing my development," he told City's official website.

"It will be an amazing experience to make my debut in front of them if I am selected to play next weekend [against Southampton in the Premier League opener].

"The hard work starts today as I start to help contribute to the club winning more silverware. The season has started really well with the Community Shield win."
