Spanish full-back Cesar Azpilicueta is keen to join Chelsea, but insists he will give his best for Marseille for as long as he remains at the club.

Azpilicueta, 22, has played in both of Marseille's Ligue 1 games this season and Sunday's 2-0 win at home to Sochaux could prove to be his last appearance for the club. Marseille could go to Moldova on Thursday for their Europa League play-off tie against Sheriff Tiraspol without the player.

"Everybody thinks it is not easy for me, that I'm torn between Marseille and Chelsea, but I respect the team [Marseille] and the fans," Azpilicueta said. "I will be at 100% as long as I wear this jersey. If my departure could help the club to get some money, everybody will be happy."

The fee for the player, who was part of the Spain squad at London 2012, would be in the region of €8 million.

New Marseille coach Elie Baup praised the player's performance in the first two matches of the season despite the speculation over his future.

"It's never easy for a guy in this kind of situation," said Baup. "Everybody talks about him. He had two great games [against Reims and Sochaux]. He is a great professional. At other teams, some players are sometimes in the same situation and they behave differently."
