Moussa Dembele has become Tottenham's fourth summer signing after moving to White Hart Lane from Fulham.

Spurs have moved quickly to sign an attacking midfielder after the departure of Luka Modric to Real Madrid on Monday and manager Andre Villas-Boas believes Dembele fits the bill as his replacement.

Dembele, 25, moved to Fulham from AZ Alkmaar in 2010 and became a key player for the Cottagers, first under Mark Hughes and then Martin Jol. The Belgium international is believed to have cost Spurs in the region of £15 million and has signed a five-year contract.

"I'm happy to join Spurs, it's a fantastic club," Dembele said. "You can see over the last few years that Spurs have played well, everybody knows it's a good team and a good club and that's why I wanted to come here.

"The club has plans to do lots of good things and that's why I want to be a part of it."

Dembele joins Gylfi Sigurdsson, Emmanuel Adebayor and Jan Vertonghen as new arrivals at White Hart Lane this summer - with the latter an old friend of the midfielder.

"I know Jan from when I was 10 years old, we played together then," Dembele said. "I know him well, he's a great guy and he's said a lot of good things about this club. He says there are friendly people here and for me, that's very important, to feel great somewhere. I'm sure I will here."
