Manchester City sporting director Brian Marwood has told ESPN that the club are hoping to push through deals for Javi Garcia, Maicon, Scott Sinclair and Matija Nastasic on deadline day.

The Premier League champions have been surprisingly quiet in the transfer market this summer, with Jack Rodwell the only arrival prior to deadline day.

But big-spending City are preparing a late splurge as manager Roberto Mancini looks to bolster his squad as he attempts to lead the club to back-to-back titles, with Marwood - who is in charge of the club's transfer policy - insisting that last-minute deals are now the norm.

"Out of the last three transfer windows around 30% of the overall transfers are done in the last 24 hours," Marwood told ESPN.

Having failed in their pursuit of first-choice midfield signing Daniele De Rossi, Marwood confirmed City have now turned their attention to Benfica's Garcia and are hopeful that a £25 million deal can be agreed.

Scott Sinclair and Matija Nastasic are also expected to be signed, with the Swansea winger costing £6.2 million and the Fiorentina defender arriving in a £12 million move that sees his Serbian compatriot Stefan Savic move in the other direction.

Mancini had previously wanted to sign either Daniel Agger or Thomas Vermalen at centre-back, but the former proved too expensive and the latter was not for sale.

Maicon is also on City's hit-list with a bid of £5 million tabled and Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti said on Thursday night that he expected a deal to go through.

There will be Eastlands exits on deadline-day, too, with Nigel De Jong completing a switch to AC Milan and Roque Santa Cruz heading to either Malaga or Real Betis.
