Rafael van der Vaart's return to his former club Hamburg appears to be back on after his agent confirmed he was on his way to Germany to complete a medical.

Van der Vaart, 29, and Hamburg have already agreed on personal terms, with the Netherlands international agreeing on a three-year contract, earning €3.9 million per year.

But the move appeared to hit a stumbling block after the Germans' initial offer of around £8 million fell way short of Tottenham's £14 million valuation, leading Andre-Villas-Boas to accuse Hamburg of disrespecting his club.

However van der Vaart's agent Robert Geerling suggests a fee has now been agreed, with Bild reporting €13million.

"I can confirm that Rafael is on his way to Hamburg now for a medical," he said.
