Maicon set for Man City medical

Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Inter Milan defender Maicon, with the Brazil international set to undergo a medical at Eastlands.

Former Inter boss Roberto Mancini is hoping to be reunited with the right-back, who is expected to sign a two-year deal worth a reported £3 million.

Mancini had previously expressed his frustration at City's inactivity in the transfer market over the summer, but the Premier League champions are hoping to make up for lost time with a late flurry of arrivals.

Fiorentina centre-back Matija Nastasic and Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia are both on City's wish list, while Scott Sinclair completed his move from Swansea on Friday.

"I think if we complete those deals, we improve our team. We are talking about one top player in Maicon, because he has experience," Mancini said.
