Leandro Damiao has revealed that he had an offer on the table to leave Brazil in the summer, before stating he is happy to stay put at Internacional for now.

The in-demand Damiao, 23, is one of the hottest properties to ply his trade outside of Europe and only attracted further suitors after starring for Brazil in the Olympics, finishing as top scorer.

Many expected the striker to follow his former club team-mate Oscar to Europe with Tottenham having made numerous bids over the past two years, while more recently Manchester United, Inter Milan and Real Madrid have been linked.

However, Internacional president Giovanni Luigi has always insisted the club would only sell if Damiao's £40 million buy-out clause was met, something he reiterated this week.

The player has now confirmed that he did have a serious offer to consider, but did not reveal who made that bid, while he also said he is content in Brazil for the time being.

"The value of the offer was very good for me and for Internacional," Damiao said to BandSports. "But it didn't happen. I think Giovanni Luigi is a great president and he knows what he's doing.

"I'm very happy to be playing in Brazil. I'll certainly leave at some point for sure, but not today."
