New Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris remained quiet over questions about Andre Villas-Boas while away with the French national team.

After Brad Friedel's impressive showing against Norwich last weekend, Villas-Boas had said of his new goalkeeper: "It's not written in the contract that you have to play."

France coach Didier Deschamps said Lloris "did not appreciate" Villas-Boas' remark but, asked to comment ahead of the team's first World Cup qualifier in Finland, the 25-year-old declined.

"Regarding my personal situation, it is neither the time nor the place to discuss this," he said. "I think I'm professional enough to make sense of things."
