Leeds United are believed to be exploring the possibility of recruiting Tottenham's Jermaine Jenas in a loan deal.

Spurs are eager to offload midfielder Jenas, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa and nearly joined Sunderland on transfer deadline day last week. Leeds boss Neil Warnock is said to be eager to add the midfielder to his squad as he looks to piece together a team equipped to mount a promotion challenge in the Championship.

Leeds view 29-year-old Jenas as an ideal a replacement for David Norris, who is out for a month with a thigh injury, with boss Warnock a long-time admirer of Jenas after he also made attempts to sign him during his days as QPR boss.

Meanwhile, departed Tottenham hero Luka Modric insists he will not allow his protracted departure from White Hart Lane to damage his "incredible" memories of the club, following his £33 million move to Real Madrid.

"I have nothing but great memories from my time with Tottenham and nothing will ever take away this wonderful part of my career," Modric said. "The fans gave me so much love and respect during my time there and I want them to know that the feeling is mutual from me to them.

"The chance to join the biggest club in world football was impossible for me to ignore and this is the reason why I left Tottenham. It was a little difficult in the final few weeks as the transfer went on for longer than expected, but I hope there is no hard feelings towards me from Spurs."

Modric's positive sentiments may not be shared by all at White Hart Lane after he refused to travel on the club's pre-season tour of America as he attempted to force through his move to Madrid.
