Newcastle lose Vuckic for the season
Newcastle United have suffered a blow after midfielder Haris Vuckic was ruled out for the rest of the season.
Vuckic, 20, injured his left knee while playing for Newcastle's Under-21 side at Aston Villa on Monday, and was carried off on a stretcher.
The Magpies have now confirmed that the Slovenian has ruptured his cruciate ligament, ruling him out for six months.
Vuckic, who has featured three times for Newcastle's first team this term, moved to Tyneside from NK Domzale in 2009 and spent time on loan at Cardiff during the 2011-12 campaign.
Meanwhile, manager Alan Pardew will also be without Dan Gosling for a number of weeks after he damaged ankle ligaments in the same match.
