Liverpool prioritise the league

Liverpool are facing an anxious wait to find out whether goalkeeper Pepe Reina will be fit to face Everton this weekend.

Reina, 30, missed the Premier League victory against Reading after injuring his hamstring while on international duty with Spain, and he is expected to miss Thursday's Europa League game against Anzhi Makhachkala, with Brad Jones likely to deputise again.

Reina has already said he is willing to be "patient" in his bid to return to action, as he does not want to risk aggravating the injury further. He also missed Wednesday morning's open training session at Melwood.

Asked how much longer Reina is likely to be absent, assistant manager Colin Pascoe said: "We are not quite sure at the moment. Hopefully not too long. He is doing his rehab at the moment and is working hard in training. So we will just have to assess him over the weekend and we will see then."
